Bass Heads
When selecting an amplifier head, it's crucial to consider the type of sound and power you're aiming for. Additionally, you need to think about the weight you're prepared to carry. But what if these two factors don't align? A compromise must be found!
If you're fed up with your old combo or want to explore a different and potentially more potent alternative for your bass, then it's time to try a head and cabinet system. The head, in other terms, is the actual sound amplifier and can utilise various technologies such as valve, favoured by some purists, transistor, or among the most recent, digital technologies.
It's undeniable that different technologies also provide different types of sound. For instance, valve heads deliver a warmer sound, effectively reproducing all the peaks of the sound sine wave produced. Ultimately, valve technology replicates the true frequencies produced by the instrument. The downside of these heads is reflected in terms of costs and increased weights to transport. Furthermore, the circuits and valves require a lot of energy, causing the entire system to heat up.
